setting up an allotment
If there are no allotments in your local area you may be interested to read 'how to get involved in setting up allotments' in your area.

I'm trying to get Kildare CoCo to set up allotments in Newridge on a piece of they own which has most of the facilities require.
one of the issues they have is the lease arrangements.
Does anybody know were I could find a typical allotment leasing agreement which I could present to the council.
thanks
Is it just me or are people absolutely crazy to be paying up to €425 on a 30 x 8m plot per year for a private allotment? €425 will buy you an awful lot of fruit and veg without all the time, hard work and all the associated growing costs. If sustainability is a goal here I don't see how this kind of price can be tolerated. Imagine how much the produce from one of these allotments would cost at a farmers market! Our friends in the UK pay approximately £10 a year for 100sq meters! Are these Irish private allotments being provided by the Supermarkets perhaps? ;-)
I also think that private allotments could inadvertently take the pressure off the councils who should be providing these facilities.
